Southend Today is an independent news and information site for Southend-on-Sea, Leigh-on-Sea, Westcliff and Shoeburyness. Our aim is simple: report what is changing locally from the public record, and keep the everyday local information people actually search for accurate and in one place.
How we work
We report from primary sources: Southend-on-Sea City Council’s own records and newsroom, the official planning register, police.uk crime data, The Gazette, the Food Standards Agency register and other public records, and we link every fact to its source so you can check it yourself. Where a record is ambiguous we say so. We use British English and plain language.
